OUR FABRICS
We’ve made it our mission to minimize our impact and enrich the planet that inspires our craft. We are dedicated to the production of natural, durable garments that withstand the test of time.
As a label born from sustainable lessons learned, places travelled and a desire to create, we’ve made it our mission to produce garments that can take the long road with you – ever-evolving with your figure, made for every journey and style.
We focus primarily on natural fibers, seeking to limit our impact on the people and land that grow and produce our fabrics.
The raw truth about the fashion industry is the production of any fabric (no matter the fiber) has implications on the planet. Like many brands we put our trust in global fabric certifications to make responsible purchasing choices and hold ourselves accountable to producing with minimal impact.
Get to know our fibers:
Linen is a highly resilient fabric. It is strong, able to withstand high temperatures and improves with age. Made from flax, it is naturally biodegradable, (even compostable depending on the processing). It has a smaller environmental footprint compared to other popular fibers as it has the ability to sequester carbon in its growing process. Flax is predominantly grown in Europe. It is important to note that it doesn’t become ‘linen’ until it is made into fabric. Therefore European Flax is not automatically European linen if woven in another country.
Linen blend combines natural linen with other fabric types like viscose, rayon, or cotton. This blend enhances the natural properties of linen, creating a versatile and adaptable fabric for different styles and uses. Because of its perfect balance of texture, breathability, and durability, linen blend fabric is ideal for everything from casual wear to elegant garments.
Cotton is incredibly versatile and comfortable. It's used in everything from clothing and curtains to pillows and towels. Known for its natural softness, cotton feels wonderful against your skin. It's breathable, keeping you cool and fresh all day—perfect for every season. Plus, cotton is strong and durable. This resilience makes it a preferred material for items that undergo frequent use and washing. Whether you're looking for comfort, durability, or sustainability, cotton is a reliable option that combines all these qualities.
Organic cotton is made without any chemicals, making it safe for sensitive skin. It's used in products like bed linens and clothing, offering a natural and hypoallergenic option. Due to its longer fibers, organic cotton is not only soft and durable but also more sustainable and supportive of biodiversity. Plus, it emits 50% less carbon dioxide than traditional cotton, making it a greener choice for the environment.
Bamboo fabric is a dream to wear because it’s super soft and silky. It’s highly absorbent and breathable, keeping you cool in hot weather and comfortably warm when it's chilly. Thanks to its thermo-regulatory properties, bamboo fabric maintains your comfort in any climate by keeping your skin dry and fresh. Bamboo fabric is also antibacterial, antifungal, eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable. This means whether you're lounging at home or stepping out, choosing bamboo ensures you do so sustainably and in comfort.
Ramie fabric is known for its durability, breathability, and luxurious texture that gets even better as it ages. Ramie keeps its shape, absorbs moisture, and becomes softer with each wash. This fabric is naturally stain-resistant, easy to clean, and dries quickly. It doesn't shrink, so it stays looking great after every wash and wear. Plus, ramie is eco-friendly, made from plant-based materials and is completely biodegradable.
Tencel™ is wonderfully soft, and lightweight, and keeps you dry with its moisture-wicking features. It's durable and improves aesthetically with time. Plus, its smooth flow and texture feel luxurious. Ideal for rainy climates or sensitive skin, Tencel™ outperforms cotton in absorbing moisture. It's also breathable, stretchy, and resistant to wrinkles. Perfect for everyday comfort.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are light and breathable, making fabrics super soft. They're perfect for upgrading your everyday essentials. Plus, they feel amazing on your skin and keep you comfortable all day.
The wood for these fibers comes from sustainable sources, certified by FSC® or PEFC, ensuring responsible forestry practices. The production process consumes significantly less energy and water, reducing the carbon footprint by up to 60% compared to traditional methods.
Additionally, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are produced with eco-friendly technologies that minimize waste and emissions, making it a smarter choice for both the environment and your wardrobe.
We’ve made it our mission to minimize our impact and enrich the planet that inspires our craft. We are dedicated to the production of natural, durable garments that withstand the test of time.
Fabric certifications are the most accessible and practical way for us (as a small business) to have confidence in the origin and ethical production of our fabrics. We check all fabric certifications provided to ensure to the best of our ability that they are authentic. We are committed to continually improving our certification process with the growth of the label. The most prominent certifications we look to are GOTS and FSC certified fabrics.
We choose fabrics composed from mono-materials – this refers to using 100% of one fiber type, as seen in a a pure linen composition. Why? Because we know that these are easier to recycle with current technology.
When we use a fabric made up of multiple materials we select materials composed of similar fibers, i.e. celluloses cotton and linen together rather than a cellulose and synthetic.
We acknowledge that using certified or reputable materials isn’t the end of the story. We monitor chemical use with Oeko-tex – 100 certification from the washing process, to the finishes, dyes and inks used.
This certification checks for up to 350 harmful substances and certifies that every component of the garment from the fabric to the thread has been rigorously tested.
Through conscionable partnerships, transparent material sourcing, manufacturing visibility and timeless designs, we are working toward our vision of becoming a fully circular label.
Innately, mindfully, intentionally, constantly.
We are walking our own path, moving away from the take-make-waste mentality of the fashion industry. It’s not revolutionary, rather necessary. A return to the behaviors of nature, where nothing goes to waste.
We are challenging ourselves as creators to exist gently and kindly – for the people of tomorrow. Our circular thinking applies not only to our garments but our business structure. It is built in with these three leading objectives:
We eliminate waste by making sure pattern pieces are cut in a configuration that eliminates waste, and repurpose offcuts to create small-scale products.
We keep products and materials in use by ensuring we use durable fibers and the highest quality craftsmanship.
We are committed to regenerating natural systems. That’s why we plant a tree for every purchase in collaboration with our partners. This aligns with our sustainable development goals.
