Linen is the oldest fabric, first produced in Egypt 10,000 years ago, with evidence from Georgia suggesting it may be 38,000 years ago. Made from the fibers of the flax plant, linen is used to make clothes, curtains, tablecloths, pillows, rugs, and more. The taller the flax plant, the longer the fibres, making linen the strongest natural fiber—far more durable than cotton. It thrives in temperate climates, maturing in just 100 days, and grows best under full sun with moist soil.
