Nomad Women Stories: Meet Stephanie Wright, The Quiet Adventurer

Stephanie Wright

This month, we’re celebrating the women who shape everything we make. Because behind every piece we design, there’s a real woman who inspired it. A woman who travels, lives fully, and knows exactly who she is.

Nomad Women Stories is a new series celebrating four remarkable women from our community who are redefining what it means to live, travel, and dress authentically. They’re real women with full lives, hard-won confidence, and stories worth telling. We’ll be sharing one each week, and we couldn’t be more proud to start with Stephanie.

Meet Stephanie Wright

Stephanie is 51. She lives in Kellyville, Sydney’s north-west, and runs her own graphic design and retouching business from home. Her two grown children (23 and 21) are still under her roof. Her wardrobe is now entirely Nomad. And last year, she spent six weeks laughing her way through Europe with her sister and brother-in-law while her kids survived on paper plates at home.

She is, in the very best sense of the word, exactly who Nomad is made for.

Q&A With Stephanie

When you think about this chapter of your life, what feels different or special compared to earlier years?

I definitely feel more at peace with myself and less worried about what other people think of me. If my kids and family are happy, then I’m happy. It’s that simple.

I look forward to travelling more as I get older. I love yoga and meditation.

How has the way you travel evolved as you’ve moved into a new chapter of your life?

When the kids were little, we’d go to the beach. Nelson Bay is our other home. We still go three times a year. But recently, we’ve been seeing more of the world and leaving the kids at home. Last year, we travelled through England and Europe, with beautiful river cruises along the way. Next month we’re heading to Vietnam with 10 friends for two weeks. I love seeing how other countries live, their people, architecture, and natural beauty.

Was there a trip that changed you?

Our six-week tour of Europe last year was incredible. We travelled with my sister and her husband, the four of us. We laughed so much. Ate amazing food. Saw Switzerland and Austria with the bluest lakes. Quaint villages through Italy. Medieval castles in France. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. And the kids survived just fine. They ate off paper plates for six weeks!

What does feeling comfortable and stylish mean to you when you’re travelling?

Being comfortable gives me more confidence in travelling and in life in general. On my last holiday, I only packed Nomad. The best thing is I don’t have to match outfits; everything is interchangeable. All the colours and pieces work together.

I LOVE the stretch waistbands. I feel slimmer because nothing is bulging. I can sit and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine without thinking about my clothes. The length of the shorts makes me feel relaxed. I actually looked forward to being in photos because I knew my clothes looked nice.

What made you decide to try Nomad the Label, and what kept you coming back?

I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad from Nomad. I thought, “Wow, that is a beautiful outfit.” It was the Sadhu French Linen Pants Cinnamon with a neutral top. I was hesitant at first as I saw so many ads. But the ad came up again, and this time I took a closer look.

I went to Nomad’s website and just kept seeing more and more pieces I loved. My first order, I grabbed eight pieces and told my husband, “Most will go back, don't panic.” Well, nothing went back, and I actually got more.

Over two years, my entire wardrobe has slowly changed over to Nomad. I’ve tried other brands, but I’ve never been as happy. Nomad’s colours, style and fabrics, it could not be more me if I’d designed it myself.

I don’t have one favourite Nomad piece. I love them all, but I reached for my Sadhu pants most often. I have them in three colours. I also have many Nomad tops. At night, I’d throw on a skirt and a bamboo top.

I actually ended up having my wardrobe fitted out because of Nomad. I’d been meaning to do it for years, and everything now has its place. It makes me so happy to look at it, and now I’m slowly encroaching on my husband’s side.

What would you say to a woman who feels “too old”, “too curvy,” or “not stylish enough” to travel the way she secretly wants to?

With the right clothes, you can look and feel a million dollars. I’m a size 12–14, and I have never felt so good in my clothes. Just try Nomad, there’s nothing to lose with the free returns, it’s super easy. And yes, linen is a bit more expensive, but it lasts, it’s timeless, and you won’t regret it.

If you had to name this chapter of your life as a book title, what would it be and why?

Maybe... The Quiet Adventurer.

More Herself Than Ever

Stephanie represents something we see again and again in our community:

  1. Women who are not fading into the background with age, but stepping more fully into themselves.

  2. Women who value comfort, not because they’ve given up on style but because they understand that true confidence begins with how you feel.

This is just the beginning of our Nomad Women Stories series. Over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to three more remarkable women who are redefining what this stage of life looks like in their wardrobes and far beyond. Stay tuned!

And if Stephanie’s story resonated with you, come and join us in the Comfort Club, our private Facebook community where Nomad women share travel stories, styling tips and honest conversations you don’t often find online. We’d love to have you there.
